When babies are newborn they seem to do little else but sleep, eat, cry and provide you with a collection of dirty nappies but in actual fact their senses are already developed and they are taking in the sights, sounds and smells of their new environment.

Although babies eyes are ready to function immediately they are not able to focus very well and the optimum distance for focusing is about eight to fifteen inches which is approximately the distance from an infants face to mother’s breast so this may not be coincidence but have been evolved to help with breast feeding. Outside this parameter most of their vision is blurred and control over focussing the eyes comes gradually as the brain area responsible for vision matures. An ability to distinguish between colours is probably not developed until at least three months but even tiny babies are able to see contrasts between dark and light and like curved lines rather than straight ones. Black and white patterns present the highest possible contrast (100%) to the eye and are therefore the most visible and attractive to babies.

Baby Choes were developed with this knowledge in mind and  eye catching designs in black and white appealing to babies were used to encourage babies to reach out and grasp their feet and help  encourage hand to eye coordination skills. They are handmade from natural leather to allow babies feet to breathe as babies are commonly sweaty and an elasticated ankle helps them to slip on and stay put. The softness and flexibility of the leather allows tiny feet to flex and toes to be grabbed with ease. A  wide toe area gives plenty of space for babies toes to wriggle and as an added bonus Baby Choes are hand washable.

Baby Choes are pre walking shoes and would make a super present they come in two sizes 0-6 months and 6-12 months and have their own presentation gift bag. They are priced at £16.00 and if you enter the code FREEPOST at the checkout p&p is deducted for a limited period.
