Congratulations to my son Douglas and daughter in law Sian following the birth of their son last night. He weighed in at 9lb 11oz I can't wait to see him. He hasn't been named as yet but I may be getting more news when the proud dad and big brother gets back from the hospital.
It's been another glorious day here but I have been pretty housebound cooking and cleaning my parents are coming to stay tomorrow so it's all happening in our family at the moment.
Some more tips for you about energy saving.
- Cut down on the amount of washing you do and forget about ironing those wrinkles are your statement that you are green and proud! Anyway you will be covering them with jumpers to keep warm with the central heating turned down or off.
- Avoid washing just one plate and certainly not under a running tap! Teenagers take heed!
- Take a shower not a bath but if you don't have a shower recycle the bathwater to water the garden or flush the loo. Or the fun thing is to share the bath (and I don't mean with the kids!)
- If you aren't doing the washing as often as usual you made feel you need some air freshner? Avoid commercial types and have candles scented with oils instead.
- Use energy saving lightbulbs, recycled paper and hemp and organic cotton clothes.
- Don't print anything unless you have too and then use both sides of recycled paper.
Some of this is a bit tongue in cheek but you get my gist I'm sure!
I was reading an article in the Telegraph yesterday (found it online its 2005) it was talking about buying clothes for toddlers in e-shops. Buying this way negates the need and I quote for 'steering a buggy bound child with the energy of a tethered alsation around a crowded shop'. I had to smile at the picture this evoked! I expect we've all been there at some time or other haven't we? Anybody got any other amusing descriptions about the joys of shopping with small children? Or perhaps you love it? I would certainly like to hear your thoughts.
