Phew! Its hot here feels quite stormy. When I was out with the dogs this morning I was thinking back to my youth (A long time ago I know). When it was sunny I used to love it if there was no wind and really hot. How times change not only is it against health advice to take too much sun these days there is also the small matter of the dreaded midges which appear everytime the air is still so I am always keen for the wind to be around. Believe me there is nothing worse than being caught in a sudden lull miles from anywhere you get eaten alive! Just been down to collect the eggs the hens are in full lay now, I had to smile at Rigsby who was crowing so much I'm sure he had a sore throat he was also doing a little display dance around the girls who needless to say did not look very impressed. Thats men for you!
I have been scouring the internet looking for interesting items to bring you and I found this recipe for shampoo which looked interesting apparently you can ring the changes and use different tea bags and it can also be used as a body wash.
* 4 bags of Chamomile tea (or 1 handful of fresh Chamomile flowers)
* 4 tablespoons pure soap flakes
* 1 1/2 tablespoons glycerin*
How to do it
Let the tea bags steep in 1 1/2 cups of boiled water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and with the remaining liquid add the soap flakes. Let stand until the soap softens. Stir in glycerin until mixture is well blended. Pour into a bottle. Keep in a dark, cool place.
Tip: If you have left over soap (vegetable based) you could use that and either grate or put it through the food processor.
If you want to make your own perfume try this -
Mix around 40 drops of your favorite essential oil in a 2 ounce spray bottle full of rubbing alcohol. To turn this into a deodorant recipe, use oils that have antiseptic qualities, like tea tree or sage.
How about a chocolate body scrub yes I said chocolate!
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla oil or extract
Olive oil as needed to make a paste – use a light variety.
Mix these together. Apply to moist skin, massage gently in a circular motion with fingertips, rinse with warm water.
