A day off today we decided to take the train from Lairg to Wick in Caithness a very scenic ride but also a long one! It took about 2 and a half hours each way. Lots to see along the way and it certainly brings home how come this is one of the least populated area's in Europe. Miles of wild countryside inhabited only by wild animals ,birds etc. Just an occasional dwelling house that's lived in and several that are obviously empty.
