End of July already and I have to say that with the exception of one or two days its been a pretty dismal month here in North East Scotland. We have been logging this afternoon but were driven in by midges its one of those mild and still days that they love. This morning I was busy in the shop sorting out items for the sale which you can find here there are some good bargains but I am selling out of sizes fast. Blue Shorties in organic terry towelling are great for the beach.
They look great with

Mild and drizzling here and I keep hearing about the beautiful sunny weather in the South, We have been having a Staycation for the past couple of weeks and have had some lovely trips out but the past few days have been a bit dreary.
I was talking to a child minder the other day and she was telling me about a little boy that she looked after with eczema he wore denim jeans and his skin was quite chaffed from the harsh material. I have some lovely soft pull up trousers in the shop in the softest imaginable organic cotton and can't help thinking how much more comfortable they are for tinies. Frugi pull ups are butter soft I have a few sizes left at a very special price. These drawstring trousers are in natural and are £7.50. Or perhaps

Summer solstice here already hope its a happy one for everybody reading this.It hardly seems to get dark at all here at present and the chickens often have to be encouraged back into their house so I can retire myself. We are enjoying lettuce and rocket from the garden now, although the growing season is quite a short one with all the light it's pretty intense. We have a wonderful crop of weeds and I was out hoeing today until driven in by fiendish midges!
I have a link here from the Soil Association which you may be interested in its about the recent debarcle regarding GM food and the fact that the public engagement process is simply a PR exercise on behalf of the GM food industry. I read about it a few days ago in the newspaper. This is public money being spent! ...

Another week has gone by but Summer seems to be on the decline here, we have had some cold, wet and windy weather. I took the dogs out this morning dressed for a chilly Autumn day! I took delivery this week of some new stock for the shop. I was particularly pleased with this bamboo and cotton sweatshirt. really vibrant colours and supersoft and cosy.

And for the boys...........

Red letter day yesterday! I managed to get my email newsletter done and finally got all the pictures to open, no mean feat for a technophobe. It's raining here today but quite warm perfect midgie weather in fact so I am hiding out indoors. I took the dogs to the beach today and it stayed dry we had a good walk so I am feeling guilt free about the cookie I ate after lunch.
I have been looking through collections of baby clothes over the past few days trying to decide what to buy I have just ordered some sweashirts and am planning to put an order in with a new supplier so watch this space!
There is going to be a Baby Show at Eden Court in Inverness on the 9/10th October and I will be going along, hope to meet some local customers there.
I found an interesting blog about colours and what your favourite colour says about you. I have a passion for green at the moment although I must say that my favourite colours change from time to time because I ...

We have had a very satisfying weekend in the garden the lawn is trimmed(I use the term 'lawn' loosely!) we have strimmed and had a general tidy up in the veggie patch and flower beds. I have harvested a bumper crop of rhubarb and it is now in the freezer ready for making crumbles and other goodies. Yesterday was a beautiful day here but today whilst still moderately warm is much cloudier. Tis the season of the 'no see ums' so we are always grateful for a breeze to blow them away! I don't think I have ever welcomed the wind in Summer so much as I do since I moved to the Highlands.
I have been reading about how Frugi one of our suppliers are helping cotton farmers in Benin you can read all about it here. I have been hearing about al the hot weather in the South and heard on the news recently about the baby that got burnt on the beach so now seems an opportun ...

I keep reading about the UK being bathed in warmth and sunshine unfortunately it has not been quite the same here although we did have a lovely weekend. I took the dogs to Golspie today there is a lovely walk along the headland behind Dunrobin Castle which leads to some woods that have a beautiful display of bluebells. I was not disappointed the sight and scent were glorious, unfortunately though we got caught in a heavy shower on the way back. Never mind it was worth it!
Last Saturday I was at a village Community Day in Rosehall the sun shone all day and it was a very happy family day out. Sones had a sales table and we got some lovely comments about the quality of the clothes etc. Organic clothes are still quite a novelty this far north and I think I am the only person selling organic baby clothes in the whole of Sutherland.
I have been reading a very interesting piece about why we should skip milk the thrust of the discussion which you can find

A busy week for me! I have just taken items from the shop to our local tourist information shop for display and sale. I was delighted to have been asked to take some stuff down and am hoping that it will be popular with tourists. I heard this week from one of our suppliers Frugi that they had recently received a celebrity endorsement for their clothing I can't say I am surprised as I commented a week or so ago their stuff is fantastic value and quality.
As usual I have been reading blogs and found one about the unique properties of organic cotton which set it apart from conventional cotton. "Since organic cotton is not stripped of its natural wax by chemicals, most weaves have a unique smoothness and weight which makes the fabric particularly flattering. Organic cotton can be dyed using natural dyes as well. Aside from being eco-friendly and beneficial to health, organic clothing is a beautiful and stylish material". Couldn't ha ...
